The Summoner fights through spiritual companions, magical weapons, and summoned creatures.

Rather than attacking entirely through their own weapon, Summoners command a Spirit Guardian that performs strikes and protects its master. Other abilities call forth magical blades, spectral horses, and a destructive phoenix.

The class rewards players who can manage positioning while directing several different summoned effects.

Combat Style

The Summoner is made for players who enjoy fighting alongside powerful summoned spirits rather than relying on their own attacks alone. Combining ranged magic, protective companions, and abilities that can influence large areas of the battlefield, the class rewards players who can manage several things at once. Good positioning is important, as a Summoner must keep track of both their own safety and the creatures fighting beside them.

Abilities

Spirit Guardian - Passive

A Spirit Guardian is summoned to remain beside the player.

Several Summoner attacks and defensive abilities are performed through this guardian.

Soul Strike - Basic Attack

Command the Spirit Guardian to strike enemies in front of you.

Using the attack again with correct timing continues the sequence, allowing the guardian to perform a multi-hit sword combination.

Guardian’s Defense

Order the Spirit Guardian to cover you with its shield.

While the stance is maintained, the guardian blocks incoming attacks and projectiles directed toward you.

Magical Blades

Summon five magical blades.

The blades remain briefly before firing toward enemies one after another.

Summon Horse

Call forth two spectral horses that charge across the ground.

Enemies struck by the horses are damaged and launched into the air.

Spirit Charge

Combo: Shift + Summon Horse (while running)

Summon and mount a spirit horse.

The horse can be directed by the player and accelerated using the forward movement key.

Summon Phoenix - Ultimate

Summon a blazing phoenix that sweeps across the battlefield.

Enemies struck by the phoenix suffer heavy damage and burning. The creature also leaves a trail of fire that continues damaging enemies standing within it.

Party Role

In group content, Summoners are most effective fighting from behind the frontline, using their summons to control space and pressure groups of enemies from a safer position. Guardians can help protect the group from incoming projectiles, while horses, fire, and magical blades can be used to control movement and punish tightly grouped targets. Good placement matters, as poorly positioned summons can obstruct allies or lose their effectiveness when enemies move away.

Some positioning and collision behavior for summoned entities may continue to change as the class is refined.
